Group Solo Travel in Laos

Travel solo as part of a group tour to Laos

Why Travel Solo To Laos?

For all its spirituality and slow pace of life, Laos’ rugged beauty means it’s primed for adventure, too.

The South-East Asian country is renowned for its rural patchwork ofrice paddies, stilted houses, waterfalls and elephants, with the mighty Mekong River running the length of its western border

Yes, this is quintessential Asia – all the more appealing for its reliable purse-pleasing prices and proximity to neighboring Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand, making it easy to criss-cross the region and tick off a few countries in one trip

In Laos itself, you can sail your way along the Mekong, watching the landscapes unfold around you; explore the Tam Ting caves and absorb the Buddhist temples of Luang Prabang; and spot monks in vibrant saffron robes or get zen in a yoga class, before feasting on fragrant Laotian cuisine.

You may travel to Laos solo, but by the time you’ve finished your slow-paced group adventure, the frenetic side to South-East Asia will feel like a distant dream.

TOP PLACES TO VISIT IN LAOS

THE MEKONG RIVER

One of the great rivers of Asia, the Mekong stretches over 2,700 miles through six countries: Burma, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and China. In Laos’ portion, you can float along the serene, winding river by boat, passing misty mountains and quiet villages for a snapshot of local life.

PAK OU

The village of Pak Ou – located where the Mekong and Nam Ou rivers meet – is known for its two limestone caves, Tham Ting and Tham Phun, which contain thousands of gilded Buddha statues. On the way to Pak Ou, you can also stop at Ban Xang (Whisky Village) – renowned for its national rice whisky.

LUANG PRABANG

The former capital of Laos is well known for its Buddhist temples and monasteries there are 33 gilded wats in total, sacred to the city’s sashaying, saffron-swathed monks. Former French villas have been turned into boutique hotels and trails and trekking opportunities await in the city’s rural hinterland.
