Myanmar Trips

why travel solo to myanmar?

Travel in Myanmar hasn’t always been possible, which coincidentally, is one of the reasons you should go.

Operating closed borders for years, there’s so much here that remains unspoiled: gilded pagodas and tribal villages, 11th century Bagan temples and the traditions of leg-rowing fishermen. It’s all existed beyond the influence of tourism for centuries, and now, whilst it still basks in the glow of authenticity, is the time to go.

We’ve crafted our trip to showcase the best of Myanmar. Think hot air balloon rides in Bagan, trekking through jungles and street food feasts in Yangon. Because here, the ‘best of’, is still the little-known. For now.

Top places to visit in Myanmar

Yangon

Myanmar’s former capital is the country’s largest city, where political veterans, artists and businessmen rub shoulders against a backdrop of golden pagodas and roaring traffic. If it’s modern vibrancy you’re after, Yangon is the place to be.

Bagan

Visit Bagan to immerse yourself in Myanmar’s regal history. There are over 3,000 stone temples dotted across the landscape, every so often punctuated by a glistening golden dome – the real draw here is soaring over the whole scene by hot air balloon.

Inle Lake

Imagine a vast expanse of sky-blue lakewaters, with traditional wooden fishing boats drifting in search of the day’s catch. Inle Lake is where the rural way of life persists, with the silhouette of the Shan Hills rising in the distance – the perfect place to embrace Myanmar’s natural beauty.

Kalaw

Located high in the hills, Kalaw is one of the best places in the country for an off-grid hiking adventure. With cooler temperatures, Kalaw provides a welcome respite from the tropical heat of lowland Myanmar, complete with a local market selling regional cuisine.
